It dawned on me the other day, that I never share certain spaces of my home with you guys- there’s definitely a good reason for that! let’s be real- my closet (like most peoples) most certainly does NOT look like these pictures 99.9% of the time. LOL!
Today, I stopped making excuses to CLEAN IT because I really wanted to share with you guys the progress I’ve made in this space. When we first moved into our little apartment we’re renting, I was so excited to have my own walk-in closet… I literally never had anything remotely this nice growing up so I was super grateful to have it. That said, my excitement wore off pretty quickly when I realized there was absolutely ZERO storage for my shoes, t-shirts, hats, etc. So being the penny pincher I am, I jumped on to both Amazon & Walmart’s websites to search for organizing solutions.
What I found pretty quickly, are not “perfect” solutions, but since this isn’t our forever home I wasn’t looking for perfection- I was looking for cheap & good enough. I’m really happy with how it’s turned out! Now I know that most “hack” post typically have BEFORE & after pics, but I couldn’t find the closet pic I took when we first moved in to save my life… if I find it I promise to add it later to this post. For now, just imagine a super simple rectangular slamm, walk-in closet with virtually no shelving!
Ok, so what I did was I ordered (3) of these white shoe racks from Amazon . They have worked brilliantly! I started by measuring the back wall of my closet where I wanted to create a shoe rack. I had a few inches of space left over between the racks and the walls, but again not looking for perfection, that wasn’t a big deal to me. I laid the 3 racks down vertically. These racks work great because you customize them to have the height you want… you don’t have to have the sizes I used. You can leave off a shelf and create a purse holder or add more shelves if your don’t want to put tall stilettos in them like I did- Yep, I’m a TALL heal kinda gal!
Next, I ordered (1) of these white 8 cube organizers from Walmart. I set it up vertically as well in a corner of my closet. This organizer is where I use small baskets to hold my casual wear, pjs, etc. The top of the organizer serves double duty as a place for decor!
My entire closet hack cost me well under $200! I’d say that’s pretty darn good if you’re looking for a simple solution that isn’t perfect! That’s it guys- hope this helps some mamas out there who are on a budget find their motivation. The major takeaway from this closet hack I home you take with you is that not having a big budget or the space you’ve dreamed of, doesn’t have to keep you from making your CURRENT space nicer! There ya have it guys- my affordable & cute closet hack!
